21 Feb, New Delhi: India today passed on to Nepal that accomplishment of its new Constitution will rely on upon determination of quarrelsome issues through "agreement and dialog" in a period bound way as both sides held broad chats with spotlight on repairing ties soured in the wake of a four-month - long fomentation by the Indian-root Madhesi group.
India was for peace, stability and overall development of Nepal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted after meeting his Nepalese counterpart K P Sharma Oli, who on his part said the main reason for his visit was to clear “misunderstandings” in ties that persisted in the last few months and that they “no longer exist”.

The two sides consented to nine arrangements including one on usage of Indian gift of USD 250 million to Nepal for post-quake reproduction and another on enhancing of street base in Nepal's Terai locale circumscribing India.

Calling finalisation of Constitution a major achievement for Nepal, Modi expressed the hope that all political parties will come together to successfully resolve “remaining” Constitutional issues satisfactorily, taking in considerations aspirations of all sections of the society.

"The drafting and declaration of the new Constitution following quite a while of battle in Nepal is a noteworthy accomplishment. I welcome the commitment of the political administration and all segments of the general public in Nepal in its making.

""Yet, its prosperity relies on upon agreement and dialog. I am certain on the premise of these standards and through political dialog and by taking all segments together, you (Oli) will have the capacity to determine all issues identifying with the Constitution attractively and take Nepal forward towards the way of advancement and security," Modi said in his media proclamation, in vicinity of Oli.

In the meeting, Modi stressed that Nepal’s stability was linked to India’s security. On combating terrorism, he said, “We will not allow terrorists and criminals to use our open border. In this regard the security agencies of the two countries will intensify cooperation.”

Inquired as to whether the Nepalese Prime Minister could address India's worries, Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar said the "tone and tenor" of the visit was forward-looking, including confirmations given tending to grievances inside of Nepal if left unaddressed might "diminish" the nation from steadiness.

“This was not a recriminatory visit. This was a forward- looking visit. It was a visit in a cooperative sense,” he said, replying to a barrage of questions on whether India was satisfied with Nepal’s assurance on issues relating to the new Constitution.

He said Modi communicated the trust that all the exceptional issues in the Constitution will be determined in a period bound way.

On whether India was stressed over Nepal getting closer to China, Jaishankar rejected such misgivings saying the word China did not come up in the discussions.

In his announcement, Oli, who touched base here yesterday on his first outside visit in the wake of getting to be Prime Minister in October a year ago, said he came to clear false impressions and "have done as such".

Ties between the two nations had soured in the wake of unsettling by the Madhesi group, which imparts close family and social binds to Indians, saying it neglected to address their worries over representation and country.

The agitators had blocked trading points for almost four months crippling supply of petroleum products, medicines and other commodities by India to that country. The blockade was lifted this month. PTI
